Welcome
to Polaris Database Systems
My name is Stephen
Bourgeois, President and founder of Polaris Database Systems. I've
spent the last decade as a student of the Oracle database.
After receiving
my BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts,
I landed my first Oracle job working with Oracle Parallel Server
(OPS) version 6.2 for Encore Computer Corporation in Marlboro, MA.
By the time I left Encore in 1994, I was stationed at Oracle headquarters
in Redwood City, CA as the lead engineer on the Encore Oracle7 Parallel
Server port.
I then joined
Oracle Corporation's Architecture Services consulting group in Boston,
MA, where I had the opportunity to utilize my OPS skills and learn
a heck of a lot about how to implement Oracle solutions on just
about every major server platform out there.
Polaris Database
Systems is an enterprise that I am very excited about. Since I have
worked in the database industry, there has always been an inadequate
supply of qualified Oracle database administrators (DBA's) in the
marketplace. At Polaris, our vision is to fill this need by offering
on-site and remote database administration services staffed by a
team of experienced DBA's
Our plan is
a simple one: to offer high-quality service at a cost-effective
price. We strive to focus on customer satisfaction and create long-term
relationships with our clients.
According to
a salary survey by salary.com,
the median salary for an Oracle DBA working in the United States
is approximately $74,000. The total cost to the employer is even
higher when the additional expenses for recruiting and benefits
are taken into consideration.
Prospective
employers need to ask themselves if it is worth the effort of struggling
to find a moderately skilled DBA and annually pay $100,000+ for
the privilege? Is the security, scalability, and availability of
the databases critical to your business worth trusting to someone
without the proper skills and experience?
At Polaris,
we strive to give our customers a high return on investment from
our services. When our clients are pleased that we've found a way
to make a critical database environment fail over to a disaster
recovery site more quickly than ever before or we've reduced the
I/O utilization of an ERP database by a terabyte per week, we know
we've done our job.
Sincerely,
Stephen M. Bourgeois

Systems, Inc.
